A Family Affair
So Retro!
Like many of you, our family of Misfits grew up painting and glazing ceramics in the 70s and 80s back up north in Chicagoland! (You can even find some of our vintage work on display in the shop.) We’re thrilled to be bringing the craft with us down to the panhandle!
Ceramics shops have traditionally been family businesses run out of the home, and ours is no exception! Head Misfit Tanya pours each piece from scratch in her garage, while Misfit Mom Vickie puts countless hours into cleaning and sanding them to perfection. Tanya and Vice Misfit Chris tirelessly run the shop— which was built from scratch by Chris and Misfit Dad Dan! With help from the Misfit Kids, three generations have had a hand in making the Misfit Ceramic Shop.

How it’s made
All of our pieces are made from scratch, the old-fashioned way! Each and every piece in our shop starts as liquid clay poured into a mold, then gets dried, cleaned up, and fired in our kiln before it’s ready to paint.
